A small crew for the smallest homes on the beach

Elbow Room is a Manly rubbish-removal crew named after the thing this suburb runs shortest of: space. People here trade indoor square metres for the beach, and we think that is a fair trade, right up until the dead couch eats the living room.

The position

Small loads are the job, not the interruption

The big metro operators price for truckloads, so the single-item pickup, this suburb's most common job, gets treated like a favour they are doing you. We flipped that. The crew, the van, the booking run and the pricing model are all built around the small load carried down by hand: one couch, one fridge, one balcony that got away.

Three promises hold every job together. Small loads welcome: nothing is too little to book, and you will never be made to feel silly for asking. Stairs included: the flights are part of the quote, never a surcharge, third floor and no lift is our home ground. Fixed before we lift: you hear the whole price, lifting, stairs, tip fees, before anything moves, and it does not move after.

And one standing rule: never the kerb. Loads leave in the van, sorted, to the places they are supposed to go.

How we work

On the building's terms, every time

Most of our work happens inside other people's buildings, so we behave like guests who want to be invited back. Straps and corner care on the carry, common areas swept on the way out, building managers and strata kept in the loop when a job needs them, lift bookings handled where lifts exist.

Disposal runs the same way: sorted loads, the green and the recyclable pulled clear where practical, and the regulated streams, fridges, mattresses, e-waste, delivered to licensed facilities the way NSW rules require. When something on a pile needs a specialist we are not, paint, gas, chemicals, asbestos, we say so and point you right.

We keep the run tight to the southern peninsula, Manly to Freshwater and Curl Curl, Seaforth to the Spit, because a short run is what makes "same-day where we can" honest rather than hopeful.

Test us on something small

The best way to size us up is the job everyone else sighs at. Book the one couch. See how it goes.

Tell us what needs to go

Fill in the form and the callback comes from the crew, not a call centre. We look at the load, the whole number is settled before the first lift, stairs and all. Then it is carried down, swept up and gone, never left on the kerb.

  • Small jobs taken seriously, one couch is plenty
  • Fixed price agreed up front, no hourly surprises
  • Same-day where we can, booked around your building

We reply to every enquiry, usually the same day. No obligation, no price until we have seen the load, then it is fixed.
